Piedmont Language School offers an immersion Spanish program with high-quality curriculum provided by our partner, Viva el Español. Spanish classes are offered for kindergarten through 6th grade before or after -school onsite at each school or in short walking distance. Classes begin the week of September 23 through June 6th. We also offer a multi-level Mandarin Program starting with basic vocabulary and introduce the pinyin system, to reading and writing simplified characters and conversational Mandarin.  Programs designed for kindergarten through middle school. For more information and to register online Click here.

ImageWishing your child had time to take language during the school year?  Looking for a small class-size learning environment?  Want to keep up language skills over the summer? 

Immerse them in language! New this Summer the APCP Summer Enrichment Program classes in Spanish and Mandarin offered by PLS and PLS partner Viva El Espanol.  Classes available for elementary and middle school students in 2-week and 1-week session.  SPACE IS LIMITED – ENROLL BY MID-MAY TO SECURE A SPOT!

Spanish:  South American Adventure comes to Piedmont- Take a journey with us to discover the beauty of South America’s wildlife, music, food and landscape. Campers will craft projects inspired by the culture and arts of various countries in South America during this fun and enriching experience.

Or perhaps–Spanish: Cooking-Latin American Style will pique your child’s senses   ¡Provecho!
 Join us on a sensory exploration of traditional cuisine from all over Latin America. We will see, smell, make and taste a different kid-friendly dish each day.  ¡Delicioso!

Mandarin: for Beginning Students. This class introduces basic spoken vocabulary and simple dialogues, as well as approx. 50 characters. Each class utilizes games (guessing, matching, bingo, etc.), learning/ reviewing conversation patterns, songs or rhymes, and a basic drawing or creative project at the end of class to illustrate and strengthen new vocabulary. Themes include numbers, introductions, family, body, fruits, colors and shapes, school activities, animals and a brief look at China’s geography.

For the continuing Mandarin Student - Dive into Chinese Culture. Explore Chinese culture and holidays/ celebrations in a small classroom setting with individualized attention. Students will learn about a range of aspects of Chinese culture, learn several songs and dances, work on Chinese-themed crafts, and have a chance to make and sample Chinese food. If possible, the class will include a cultural field trip.

PLS Spanish Program Openings Begin Week of Jan. 28

Spanish classes for new and continuing students:

All Elementary: Before school  on M, Tues, Thurs, Fri. Beach classes are 7:50 to 8:30am. Wildwood and Havens classes are 7:45 to 8:25am.

Havens and Wildwood Kindergarten: Piedmont Community Church from 10 to 10:40am for afternoon K and 12:30 to 1:10pm for morning K

Beach Kindergarten Pilot Program: Kehilla Synagogue on Grand Ave. (Beach students will be walked to/from class). 10:00 – 10:40 am for PM Kindergarten and 12:30 – 1:10 pm for AM Kindergarten on Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri.

After School Sessions:

Havens: Mon + Fri at Piedmont Community Church from 3:15 to 4:05pm

Wildwood: Wed. from 1:50 to 2:40pm and Thurs. from 3:05 to 3:55pm

Beach: Tues +Thurs from 3:15 to 4:05pm (pending classroom availability. Days or location may change).

PMS: Continuing students – Tues +Thurs from 3:15 to 4pm.
